The evidence that suggests Taylor's superstar frenemy is none other than K-Pez herself.
As she gears up to release her fifth album 1989, Taylor Swift has revealed the juicy deets of a rivalry in the music scene that has been kept totally secret.
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, Taylor discussed a song called ‘Bad Blood’ that was penned about an unnamed female artist that ticked her off last year.
While T-Swizzle did her best to keep the identity of her rival a secret, we think it’s pretty obvious that the artist that she is “straight-up enemies” with is none other than our October cover star Miss Katy Perry. And we have proof!
Taylor Swift vs Katy Perry
Round 1, ding ding!
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," she says. "She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?' "Then last year, the other star crossed a line. "She did something so horrible, I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I'm surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it."
Just as the Red World Tour was in full swing last year, it was reported that three of Taylor’s dancers, Leah Adler, Scott Myrick and Lockhart Brownlie ditched the country-pop singer and later resurfaced in Perry’s performance of 'Roar' at the MTV VMA’S.
“I was with Taylor for the first six months,” Lockhart Brownlie told Australia’s The Examiner in 2013. “It was a great experience and she’s a great person to work with, but then Katy contacted us… The experiences were completely different. Taylor is very untouchable.”
As the hysteria of this juicy goss circled Hollywood, Perry caught the buzz and was not impressed. At all.
Katy, also dubbed ‘The Queen of Shade’, posted a tweet that fused a Mean Girls reference with an old school saying to publicly shame Taylor for her betrayal.
While Taylor insists in the Rolling Stone article that her feud "wasn’t even about a guy", we mustn’t forget that Katy Perry dated singer John Mayer after Taylor famously experienced a bad break up with the notorious bad boy who inspired the scalding song ‘Dear John’ on her previous album. That betrayal of the sisterhood code is sure to have created ‘Bad Blood’ between the fellow pop divas.
1989 will be released on October 28 and we cannot wait to hear Taylor’s musical version of events in ‘Bad Blood.’
