Demi Lovato is no stranger to raising a few eyebrows on social media. Especially when it comes to posting or tweeting out exactly what’s on her mind.
After all, who could forget all the events surrounding Demi’s very short Twitter break last year? There was also an incident on Snapchat last summer that left fans upset with her as well.
The 'Confident' singer is now facing major backlash from fans this time on Twitter. Demi decided to share with her fans the results of a DNA test she had taken a while back, which detailed the global ancestry of her family.
The first tweet the singer sent out read, “I did a DNA test and found out I'm mainly Spanish, with Native American, SCANDINAVIAN (which I had NO idea), Irish, BRITISH....”
The second tweet which raised some major eyebrows with fans simply read, “And I'm 1% African!!!!”
Demi then followed up by sharing a picture of her test results, but by then fans and many others were quick to poke fun at the singer. Others were quick to let the singer know that her tweets could and were seen as offensive.
Others were quick to jump to the singer's defense, with many stating she was just sharing test results.
Noticing that she was facing some serious backlash due to her tweets, Demi followed up with an apology that read, “Just thought it was cool and totally random. Some of y'all are mean af. Twitter sucks.”
The 'Stone Cold' singer and also let another user know she understood the points various people were making, and why her words could be seen as offensive to others.
Though Demi surely didn’t mean to hurt anyone with her words, it was extremely mature of her to not only understand where others were coming from but find a way to let them know their voices had been heard.
