Following news of Dylan O’Brien’s accident on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the movie’s director, Wes Ball, has issued a statement saying he’s “overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt.”
The statement was handwritten and posted in a photo on Twitter.
“Well, it’s been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days. I’ve been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt. But, ultimately I find myself left with a deep love and respect for Dylan. He is one tough cookie. I’m sorry for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew. It’s scary seeing your friend get hurt, but fortunately, Dylan is going to be just fine. After a few weeks of rest and recovery he’ll be back up and running to finish our adventure together. All the best.”
Wes directed Dylan in The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials, and it sounds like he’s as upset about the whole situation as we are.

Dylan O’Brien aka Stiles from Teen Wolf and Thomas from the Maze Runner has been “severely injured” while filming the Maze Runner sequel, The Death Cure yesterday.
“Production on the film will be shut down while he recovers,” a Fox spokesperson confirmed. “Our thoughts go out to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery.” Gossip site TMZ reports that poor Dylan was “run over by a vehicle” in a car scene that went wrong and may have “multiple broken bones”.
Deadline has since reported that Dylan fell off the back of a set "that was supposed to look like the back of a train." He has apparently fractured his cheekbone or orbital socket after falling on his face.
The 24-year-old was rushed to hospital in British Columbia where his treatment is ongoing. Production of the movie has also been stopped. The author of the Maze Runner books, James Dashner, tweeted to let fans know that Dylan’s injuries are “not life threatening” and that he’s “going to be ok”.
