Gigi Hadid opens up about her disease

Gigi Hadid is one of the most prominent ~It~ girls RN.

She’s the face of multiple high end campaigns, she’s got loads of famous friends, a hot muso BF and last night she had the honour of walking the VS Fashion Show.

Like most ~It~ girls, Gigi has received loads of criticism about her body while she's been in the public eye. She's been labelled as being “too fat” and “too thin,” and both kinds of comments are SO not okay.

While discussing her preparation for the VS Fashion show, Gigi spilled a scary fact about her health, that’ll make everyone who has ever made a negative comment about her body eat their words.

"My metabolism actually changed like crazy this year. I have Hashimoto's disease,” she revealed. "It's a thyroid disease, and it's now been two years since taking the medication for it, so for the VS show I didn't want to lose any more weight, I just want to have muscles in the right place, and if my butt can get a little perkier, then that's good.”

Did not see that one coming...

Hashimoto's disease is a serious form of hypothyroidism that slows down the metabolism, causing sluggishness, weight gain, and depression.

The 21-year-old explained that she’s been taking medication to regulate her thyroid for the past two years. Treatments for Hashimoto’s disease include synthetic hormones that work by speeding up the metabolism, causing weight loss.

So just a note to all the body-shamers, THIS is why you cannot, repeat CANNOT diss someone because of their size.

Gigi went on to discuss her top tip for dealing with stress: screaming.

"Literally, screaming into a pillow helps," she confessed. "One time I was on set for a beach shoot, and my mom said 'go scream into the ocean. It relieves the tension.’"

We’re super proud of our girl for having the courage to speak out about the disease. Gigi, this is why we ~worship~ you!
