The Veronicas’ Jess Origliasso has long been campaigning for equal marriage rights in Australia. But since she fell back in love with ex Ruby Rose and they’re a couple again, the singer says she’s been struggling even more with the fact that gay marriage is still illegal Down Under.

“It’s a really confronting feeling. We cannot get married,” she told the Courier Mail in a new interview this week.

“I’m at an age now where I’d like to settle down, I want to have children. I like the romantic idea of that. It was already personal, but now I’m dating Ruby it’s obviously now incredibly personal.

“I feel emotional rage over it.”

Jess, who gave an epic performance with sister Lisa at the ARIAs this week, said it’s lit a fire underneath her to push the government to legalise gay marriage, like the USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, France, Sweden and many other countries have already.

“It’s only inspired us to want to speak out louder, campaign harder and be a bigger voice.”

Jess and Ruby revealed they were back together earlier this month, after breaking up more than eight years ago. They developed feelings for each other while working together on The Veronicas’ new video for "On Your Side", which is a dramatic, sexy, beautiful roller-coaster which you really need to see, if you haven’t already (watch above).
