So here’s an interesting story... Apparently One Direction’s Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson are cashing in on fans by promoting 5 Seconds of Summer. How, you ask? Because they own a stake in the band!

According to the Sunday Mirror, there are documents which show that Liam and Louis are directors of the company which registered the 5SOS trademark.

They, as well as bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan, own a 50 percent stake in the profits with a 10 percent share each in the company.

Yeah, we know. All these numbers are a little confusing but basically it means 1D are even bigger fans of 5SOS than we first thought.

A source for the Mirror claims: "They’re aware of how loyal their following is so by buying into a similar act then urging fans to buy their records, they had a sure-fire hit.

"They are clearly all friends but they also have a business interest in making sure 5SOS does well."

It’s no secret that the 1D lads often tweet about them to their millions of followers, as well as inviting them to support on their sold-out world arena tour.

In February Louis tweeted: "Hearing @5SOS on the radio is a great way to start the day. Proud of you lads!!" Liam also tweeted: "New @5SOS single ‘Don’t Stop’ is out now! Loving the track guys, go check it out."

But now it looks like they’ve got a bit of a financial incentive to support the guys, too! A spokesman for 1D said: "We do not comment on the band’s finances."
