Liam Payne tweets apology about controversial video

Liam Payne has taken to Twitter to apologise for his One Direction bandmates, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.

Liam Payne has taken to Twitter to apologise for his One Direction bandmates, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, following last week’s leaked video controversy.

The 1D boys have been the focus of some controversial headlines lately after Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson were seen rolling up a cigarette and joking about “illegal substances” on film.

In the video, Louis joked: “One very, very important factor of Zayn’s warm up of course is Mary J herself,” which shows Zayn holding a suspicious looking cigarette.

Now, their bandmate Liam has taken to Twitter to apologise to fans and defend their actions stating it was “stupid” and they have some “growing up” to do.

In the series of tweets (below), Liam said: “We are only in our 20’s we all do stupid things at this age.” Whilst also assuring everyone he still loved his boys and they weren’t taking stardom for granted.

Liam isn’t the only Directioner to speak out about the controversy with Harry Styles revealing his thoughts about the video to The Sun calling it “stupid and reckless”.

At this time, a rep for the band has confirmed that they are looking into whoever leaked the video saying, “the matter is in the hands of our lawyers.”

We’re just hoping the guys continue to make headlines for the right reasons instead of controversial ones.
