There’s no denying Selena Gomez has had some rough times in the past year or so. She broke up with on-off BF Justin Bieber and had a stint in rehab in January to get her life in order.
Speaking with Ellen DeGeneres on her show, Selena revealed that she’s still struggling a little to find her place in the world.
“You know this year’s been… I feel like I have been doing this so long that people tend to forget that,” she explained.
“They're all like ‘be yourself, be yourself,’ and I’m still trying to figure out who that is.”
Respect, Selena. It’s not every day a star admits to being unsure of themselves, even though it’s a natural part of growing up, so we’re proud she was brave enough to say it.
When asked by Ellen where her mental health and wellbeing is at right now on a scale of one to 10, Selena answered:
“I’m a seven. I know I’m not perfect, but I know I have a lot of people that support me and love me.
Again, another totally honest, real answer.
“And, I don’t want to let anyone down so I try to be the best I can be. And it’s awkward being in your twenties,” she added, and we couldn’t agree more – growing up can be hard.
But rather than feel sorry for herself having the paparazzi document her transition from her teens to her twenties, Selena looks for the silver lining of being famous.
“That’s when I get to do amazing things like use my platform for things like UNICEF, or kind of just shift everything into what’s important and what actually matters in the world, so that’s the plus side of what I do,” she said.
Our love levels for Selena Gomez are now seriously high.
