Shia LaBeouf is a wanted man. There's a warrant out for his arrest after he failed to show face for a hearing in court.
The 21-year-old actor was due to appear in court to deal with an unlawful smoking ticket that he was issued with last month. Shia was allegedly caught by cops puffing away in a no-smoking area. He lit up on the pavement outside a gift shop on February 18.
"I can confirm that Shia LaBeouf was given a ticket on February 18 this year," a police spokesman said. "He was standing on the 300 block of North San Fernando [Los Angeles]. There is a no-smoking ordinance in certain parts of Burbank and this area is one of them."
Shia was due to appear in court on Tuesday morning, but neither he nor an attorney showed up and the judge ordered a US$1000 bench warrant be issued for his arrest.
"A bench warrant is to be issued because he didn't show up," a spokeswoman for Burbank Superior Court said. "It hasn't actually been issued yet, but that's what the judge has said. Mr LaBeouf will either have to turn up to court or have an attorney appear on his behalf. This could happen at any time."
This isn't the first time Shia's been in trouble with the authorities. Last year he was arrested for misdemeanour criminal trespassing after refusing to leave a Chicago store when asked to by security.
