Zac Efron attempts to do an Aussie accent and as Aussies, we’re swooning

What can’t he do?

There’s been some pretty terrible attempts by non-Australian actors to master our unique accent – it's a damn skill to sound as ~beautiful~ as us.

Zac Efron was tasked with the challenge for just one scene in the upcoming comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and while it’s not flawless, it’s not terrible. Actually, it's kind of amazing.

As you’ll see in the above clip, when he says “Why, yes I do” it could barely even be considered an Aussie accent, but in the next line “I only drink my particular brand and you will not convince me otherwise”, he absolutely nails it, mate. Bloody oath, he does.

Ahead of his visit Down Under this week (yaaaaaassss), Zac didn’t sound overly confident when he spoke to News.com.au about it.

"Hopefully I didn’t screw up too bad. It’s a very difficult accent and I have a lot of respect for people that can do it well... and for Australia. So I don’t want to mess it up.

"But for the sake of comedy I will give it my best shot."

Lol, Zac, you’re a bloody top bloke. G’day. Vegemite. Koalas. Etcetera. Aussie4Lyf.
