Months after news broke of Zac Efron's stint in rehab, he opens up about his addiction on Running Wild with Bear Grylls.
"It was just so quick - it was shocking," said Zac. "The challenging part was never the work, that was never it. It was sort of the in-between work - the social aspects outside of it; everywhere you go [there are press and people watching]... and it can be confusing and pretty soon you need a social lubricant.
"Once it became that it got to the point where I was caring less about the work and waiting more for the weekend where I couldn't wait to go out and let loose and have fun.
"But when Monday and Tuesday were difficult to get through, I thought, 'This is bad.'"
The 26-year-old is the first celeb to appear in Bear Grylls’ new reality show, in which he brings along a star to showcase their survival skills.
In the episode he reveals his inner action man and jumps out of a helicopter into the Catskill Mountains and also devours a worm (hmm, reckon Zac's trying to hint to movie producers he wants an action-packed, Sylvester Stallone-y role?)
While Zac may be brave when it comes to adventure, he admits to Bear Grylls that it's taken a lot of him to talk about his struggle with drugs.
"I just really never again want to take anything from the outside in to feel comfortable in my present skin, and that takes a lot of work," he said. "It's just meditation and stopping and slowing down your brain."
We are so happy Zac has come clean, with his time in rehab and his openness. After seeing his healthy (and hot!) bod in Bad Neighbours, his joyous holiday snaps and his newfound love, we’re sure Zac will only get better and better!
