Zendaya will play Mary Jane Watson in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'!!!

Z just made history!

By Sammy Stewart

Ever since Zendaya jumped on board the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, details of her actual character have been way too sparse.

At one point, we thought her name was going to be Michelle, aka Michelle Gonzales, but then again according to the timeline of the iconic comic, that theory wouldn't be possible since the film will be set during Spidey's teen years.

In breaking news this morning, Zendaya's role in the iconic comic saga has been announced and she will be playing... Mary Jane Watson!

According to the Wrap, Zendaya will be playing Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker's ~main~ love interest.

Not only is this a MAJOR step up in terms of screen time for Z, but it's also pretty historic. Ever since the comic was released, Mary Jane has always been portrayed with pale skin and red hair. Zendaya will be breaking the mould as the first ever black woman to take on the leading lady in Spidey's life and DAMN we are proud.
