10 freakin' awesome apps that'll make you better at everything in life

Studying, waking up, budgeting, Instagram...

By Amber Manto

These days there's pretty much an app for everything, and they can make your life a hellava lot easier. Of course if you've been in the App Store you'll know it's just crazy and you could actually spend ages trolling through to find ones which are decent. So it's a good thing we've done all that hard work for you. Plz, no need to give us a trophy... we'll just settle for a sash.

1 + 2. Get more likes on Instagram

Now that the order we see our Insta feeds has changed, it’s hard to know the best time to post so people actually see your pic. Enter WhenToPost, the app which will tell you the prime time to upload you pics so you get all the hearts you deserve.

But of course you don’t wanna be hanging around waiting to actually post it – you gotta a life to live after all. Which is why you need Later, an app that lets you upload and schedule your posts in advance. Genius, right?

3. Wake up without feeling tired

Nothing worse than wanting to hit the snooze button when the alarm goes off in the morning coz you were up late (again) rearranging your posters. Well ditch your standard wake-up call and get the Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock. This ~magic~ tech tool analyses your sleep and wakes you in the lightest sleep phase so you’re rested and ready to go to school (as ready as one can be).

4. Budget like an accountant

Knowing where your pocket money/pay goes every week is often a bit of a mystery, which is why you need a cute budget app like Wally on ya phone. It'll show exactly how much you've got left and spend, and keep tabs on what you've spent your money on. Did we mention the cute colours and icons?!

5. Keep tabs on your period cycle

You know the drill, you're at school and all of a sudden you get that feeling in your panties like something's going on. But you don't have any tampons or pads handy and you're mortified. Well, with Dot you can keep tabs on your cycle so you know when to expect your next period. In fact, it can predict when you'll get your period for the next six months so you'll never be caught off-guard again!

6. Find out your future

Why wait till your monthly horoscope comes out when you can find out what's in store for you THAT DAY?! With The Daily Horoscope you can check to see what the future holds that morning. It also has a zodiac sign compatibility feature so you can check if you and your potential bae are a good match... according to the universe that is!

7. Up your text game

Emojis are great and all but what you really need to take your text game to the next level are custom-made GIFs. JibJab is the app that lets you do just that. You simply snap a selfie (or use your friend's faces) then search the thousands of GIFs and images to create your own masterpiece and send! The LOLS legit won't stop.

8. Become an actual genius

Studying is HARD. Especially trying to remember stuff. If you have the memory of a goldfish then say helllllo to Flashcards. This app will help you learn things quicker so ace your those exams.

9. Stay safe when you're out

If your parents are like pretty much everyone else's parents then they stress when you head out. Well, you can put their minds at ease with Companion, a freakin' clever lil app that lets you reach out to fam and have them keep an eye on you when you're on the move. All you have to do is enter your destination and select some contacts to be your "companions". They don't even need the app installed. These companions see a live map of your progress and get updates as you make it from Point A to Point B. There's even a button to press to call the police in case some shady stuff goes down. Pretty cool huh?

10. Stop being bored

Want your fix of KUWTK as soon as it airs in the US? If Netflix and Stan are no longer keeping you entertained then download hayu - it's like on-demand TV, except it JUST houses reality TV. Imagine watching the all six seasons of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in one sitting?! Weekend plans sorted.
