If the dark and twisted nature of A Series of Unfortunate Events draws you in, then this new teaser trailer will give you tingles.

Netflix has just released it, and it pays serious homage to the style that the story follows.

We found out many moons ago that Netflix was turning the epic book/movie into a TV show (YAS) and hearing that Neil Patrick Harris would play Count Olaf made the news that much sweeter.

The teaser shows Lemony Snicket narrating the trailer the way he narrates the book, which is unlike any other trailer we've seen before and it's bloody brill.

"Hello, my name is Lemony Snicket and I find myself in a dimly lit room talking to a complete stranger."

"The complete stranger is you and the room belongs to Netflix; the company responsible for filming A Series of Unfortunate Events. Under ordinary circumstances, this room would be buzzing with excitement and activities, directors, designers, stagehands, preparing for a dazzling season of entertainment," he continued.

"The story of the Baudelaire orphans is so upsetting and so utterly unnerving, the entire crew is suffering from low moral. A phrase which here means 'currently under medical observation for melancholia. Almost everyone.

"So please. Don't make the same mistake that Netflix has, and look away before this dire tale has even been filmed. And avoid the cruel whimsy and whimsical cruelty of what's to come."

The show hits Netflix Friday the 13th of January.
