If you're a Gossip Girl fan, then it's safe to say you #shipped Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf harder than your own parents.
Despite their many flaws, and the amount of times you wanted to throw your sushi at the screen when they were bickering, they were ~destined~ to be together, right?
In an interview with Vulture, Gossip Girl's co-creator/writer Josh Schwartz said they weren't ever meant to be together.
“None of that was expected,” he told the website. “Chuck came into the show as the villain. But it’s one of those great, fun things about making a television series — it’s an evolving, living, breathing thing, and things can easily change on a whim.”
Once the ~OBVIOUS~ chemistry between Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck (Ed Westwick) became clear, the writers created their beautiful, beautiful romance. They even decided that they would be together forever, no matter what.
“That love story between those two characters was always one of the overarching stories of the whole show, and we knew that. As far as we pushed them, we always had to be able to find a way to bring them back together,” Josh explained.
PHEW! Crisis averted.
