The way this family reacted to their daughter’s coming out is the best thing ever

There was a “vegan gay cake.”

By Nikki Kinstlinger

17-year-old Kinsey from New Jersey recently came out to her family that she was gay following a conversation with them about her sexuality. But their reaction was not what she expected it to be at all.

As the 4th of July weekend rolled around, Kinsey’s family sent her and her cousin out to pick up some supplies for the day, but when she returned home she got the surprise of her life.

Her entire house was covered in rainbows from the paper plates and cups, to the napkins, to the table cloth and even the food itself! This was no 4th of July party. This was a surprise coming out party just for Kinsey, thrown by her incredible family.

Kinsey told BuzzFeed News that after she shared the party on her Twitter, so many people became excited for her, telling her via social media about their own coming out stories. Of course, because this is literally the happiest thing to happen ever, the whole shebang soon went viral.

“I love being a part of such a caring and awesome community,” she said. “The best part is seeing how happy the party has made everyone.”

She also mentioned that this little glimmer of hope and happiness came at a time when the LGBT community really needed it. She added, "Especially in light of the Pulse shootings this past Pride Month, our community needs a little joy and hope and I'm glad to say my family has helped contribute to that."

Now, making rainbow food is one thing, but making said rainbow food also vegan is a whole other level of commitment, but that’s just what her family did in order to cater to her specific dietary requirements because LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

We can only hope that Kinsey and her family have inspired others to be as open, honest and accepting as this.
