It's happening: an LGBTQ Disney princess is coming

Disney's first LGBTQ princess could be coming soon

For a while now, there's been a major push for LGBTQ characters to appear in Disney.

It started when #GiveElsaAGirlfriend trended online, and since then we've seen slooow progress. Mainly, with Finding Dory's very sly nod towards lesbian mums. YAS!

But more action is so #needed than a sly, not even confirmed lesbian couple that appeared on the screen for a millisecond.

In a recent Huffington Post interview, Moana's Ron Clements and John Musker supported the idea. "It seems like the possibilities are pretty open at this point," Clements said.

Musker added that it could totally happen too. "It would be driven by a director or a directorial team that really wanted to push that," he explained. "I would say we haven't ever really [had] restrictions placed on what we've done."

So much change has already come with Moana, for instance she has no love interest (SHOCK HORROR) and she isn't stick thin.

"We made her legs fuller and her hips are fuller to make her capable of these action stunts that we wanted to do," Musker told HuffPo.

But, can you imagine a Disney princess that falls in love with, say, her handmaiden? Or what about the enemy kingdom's princess. That's some Romeo & Juliet romance right there and we are all about it.
