Someone failed to tell Shailene Woodley the Divergent series finale would be a TV spin off

Bit awkward.

Turns out we weren't the only ones surprised to learn the finale installment of the Divergent series would no longer be a blockbuster film, but rather a TV show spin off. Star Shailene Woodley, aka Tris Prior, had zero idea as someone failed to alert her.

“Honestly, I was on a plane when all that happened, and I landed and I’m like, ‘Whoa, what’s going on?!’” she said while on the red carpet at Comic-Con this morning, reports Deadline. “I need to talk and find out what the details are.”

So does this mean she'll be back or will they be recasting...? Ugh, this news is literally getting worse by the second.

If you were expecting to line up at the cinemas with your choc-top and large popcorn for the finale installment of the Divergent series Ascendant, then you might have to swap the big screen for the little one in your lounge room.

That's right, weirdly the last movie is being swapped for a TV spin off, Variety reports. Whaaaaaaaaa?

The real kicker is there's no confirmation Theo James, Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort or Miles Teller will be returning for it, and Lionsgate refused to comment...

2014's Divergent and 2015's Insurgent blew up the box office, but last year's Allegiant was a sort of epic fail, and let's be honest the series never reached the heights of The Hunger Games.

Either way, we'll probs watch it coz what else is there to do?
