WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE, FACEBOOK?!
Seriously, when I'm scrolling through my Facebook feed on public transport and ACCIDENTALLY land on a video and my headphones aren't in, I low-key plan my own funeral as the VERY LOUD video starts playing. EVERYONE looks at you in a weird, sympathetic way... and we aren't even gonna mention those trick sex sound videos.
(YES, THAT HAPPENED TO ME ONCE ON A BUS & IT WAS V TRAUMATIC).

Like the fear and risk weren't high enough already, Facebook has just set out to make it that.much.worse.
Yesterday the social media platform announced new ~changes~ to their video strategy, one of which included that videos will auto-play as you scroll, with the sound ON.
ON, PEOPLE. ON!
Thanks for that Zuckerberg!
But there's a silver lining, thank god. Thankfully, the sound will only play if your phone is set to loud and you can turn it off completely in the settings, which we will DEFINITELY be doing. It will also not interrupt any music playing from iTunes or Spotify.
Why change the settings at all? They believe that auto-playing the videos with sound will keep people engaged for longer. We guess time will tell.
'Til then, scroll with caution.
