Remember how, amidst the #KimExposedTaylor drama, Instagram reportedly gave T-Swizzle a tool to help her block and remove those sneaky snake emoji comments? Welp, it seems the pic-sharing platform does have a feature that enables users to filter or remove comments altogether, which they intend to roll out to everyone verrrry soon.
In a statement issued to The Washington Post Instagram’s Head of Public Policy, Nicky Jackson Colaco, confirmed they’ve been testing the tool on prominent accounts ahead of its release date (adding more proof to the Tay and Instagram conspiracy theory).
The goal is that the new feature will help Instagram and its users tackle online harassment, making the home of filters, "a friendly, fun and, most importantly, safe place for self expression," said Nicky. "We have slowly begun to offer accounts with high volume comment threads the option to moderate their comment experience. As we learn, we look forward to improving the comment experience for our broader community," she added.
So what does this mean?
Basically, you’ll be able to post whatever you want without having to worry about the lame fun-ruiners salting your game. Let’s be honest, haters gonna hate, but that don’t mean we need to hear it, riiiight? Right.
No word yet on when the feature is going to be made available to all but we’re hella excited for the beginning of shame-free selfie sprees.
Good vibes only people.
