Netflix is like our BFF, we trust it with all our heart (how couldn't we with all it does for us?), but beware of a suspicious email being sent around from them, as it's a total scam.
Before opening said email, note that hackers have been running a phishing email scam that has targeted the service's subscribers, FireEye notes.
The email will ask for users to update their information.
The email will then redirect users to a landing page that looks a heck of a lot like Netflix, and will ask users to login to their accounts. It will then take them to a page where it asks to update your billing information and for you to validate your payment info. Scary!
The real Netflix never asks users to update this info through email, as they require you to do it through their direct website or app.
Representative from Netflix spoke to Teen Vogue in a statement, saying: "We take the security of our members' accounts seriously and Netflix employs numerous proactive measures to detect fraudulent activity to keep the Netflix service and our members' accounts secure.
"Unfortunately, phishing scams are common on the internet and target popular brands such as Netflix and other companies with large customer bases to lure users into giving out personal information.
"Members who want to learn more about how to keep their personal information safe against phishing scams and other malicious activity can go to netflix.com/security or contact Customer Service directly."
Yikes. Be safe with your deets people!
