Something HUGE is happening in season 8 of The Vampire Diaries, and can you even deal?

We can't.

All our favourite shows are ending, and it's difficult to face. So much is up in the air with The Vampire Diaries, especially with season 7 ending the way it did.

Damon and Enzo are killing everyone in their sight, and Elena is still gone so there's that.

But, there's hope. There is always hope with this show, because when someone dies they don't really ever die. Showrunner Julie Plec even admits to that, and we love it.

Talking to Enterainment Tonight Julie admits: "I loved how easy it was for those who were deceased to return. I loved the Other Side; I thought the Other Side was very special to our show. It did give us that ability to stay close to those we’ve lost even after they might have left us tragically. So much of the show is an exploration of death, and I love being able to explore the idea that people remain with us in some way or another.”

Meaning, of course the ones we have loved will be returning. She has promised a lot of ~romance ~ for season, and that has to mean Elena, right?!

“There’s a strong romantic core to this season,” Julie says, promising “lots of big moves and big declarations” in the show’s final season.

“I got something up my sleeve," she reveals, and our imagination is running HAYWIRE right now.
