If you've ever tried to start your own YouTube channel, you'd know that it's pretty damn hard to get views, subscribers... etc. In a nutshell, becoming ~famous~ from the site is NOT.EASY!
You may have heard of Zoella, Jenna Marbles and Miranda Sings. But, we can probably guarantee you've heard of PewDiePie, real name Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg.
Over his six years on YouTube, he's accumulated over 49 million subscribers, making him one of the most successful vloggers in the biz. So successful, that he rakes in a mere $12 million annually. AH!
Loose change, really.
But, in his most recent vid, titled DELETING MY CHANNEL AT 50 MILLION he goes on an epiccccccc rant about how awful YouTube has become, as he has a conspiracy theory that it's trying to kill his channel.
"I'm white," he said in the video. "Can I make that comment? But I do think that's a problem."
Yeah, he literally thinks (along with the algorithm change) that YouTube is penalising him and his channel because of his skin colour...
"YouTube is trying to kill my channel. It is clear. It is happening if you watch my analytics. It is all going down," he said in the video.
"I feel like I wanna work at YouTube and just tell them how to do sh-t.
"I've decided the only way to stop my channel from dying - I know you are going to think I am joking - but I am going to delete my channel."
He's admitted that his channel isn't as successful as it used to be, and that it's going down-hill majorly. But, he's blaming the site and not himself.
However, YouTube have told The Independent that what he says in the vid is incorrect.
"Some creators have expressed concerns around a drop in their subscriber numbers," a spokesperson said in a statement. "We've done an extensive review and found there have been no decreases in creators' subscriber numbers beyond what normally happens when viewers either unsubscribe from a creator's channel or when YouTube removes spammed subscribers. We do the latter to ensure that all creator subscriber numbers are accurate."
He is the most successful YouTuber, so it seems a bit silly that he's ranting about not getting enough views (when he literally gets millions), and makes $$$$$ erryday.
But hey, some people just can't accept when your time is done. #Soz.
